Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) successfully tested a new time-based rate that provided participants with varied prices in order to induce a change in their patterns of electricity consumption. As a result, OG&E is rolling out the rate to about 20% of their customers (120,000) by 2016.
Powder River Energy Corporation (PRECorp) serves approximately 11,900 customers in a 16,200 square-mile area of rural Wyoming and Montana with weather conditions. PRECorp implemented grid modernization to increase service efficiency for its customers, laying the foundation for future AMI efforts.
An SGIG grant helped Detroit-based DTE Energy significantly increased the scope of its smart grid technology deployment. Operational efficiencies and savings from 725,000 smart meters and numerous distribution automation
technologies prevented passing on any installation costs to customers.
Minnesota Power (MP) serves approximately 144,000 customers and manages almost 9,000 miles of power lines and over 160 substations. MP's strategy focuses on small-scale smart grid investments to first test the efficacy of technologies then scale-up when cost-effective solutions are verified.

Talquin Electric Cooperative's territory covers about 2,600 square miles. Their Smart Grid Program installed advanced metering infrastructure to approximately 56,000 customers and upgraded 46 of 86 circuits with advanced capacitors and switches for voltage control.
Glendale Water and Power completed its smart meter installation and began implementing new offerings to improve operational efficiencies and help customers save energy and manage their electric bills. The municipal utility replaced all 85,000 electric meters in Glendale well ahead of schedule.

With community interest and know-how, the City of Naperville, Illinois, a municipal electric utility, began investing in distribution automation
systems for more than a decade. These investments include automating the city's entire electric distribution grid and deploying smart meters city-wide.
