An Open Letter to the President of the United States

In April 2010, a group of 48 smart grid technology vendors, environmental organizations and public policy think tanks wrote an open letter to President Obama (PDF 108 KB) asking him to consider adopting the goal of giving every household and business access to timely, useful, and actionable information on their energy use. A second letter (MS Word 16 KB) was written in May 2010 by five consumer advocacy groups asking the President to reject their request. The White House has recently written an open response to the letters (PDF 224 KB).
