U.S. Department of Energy
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is the lead agency of the Federal Smart Grid Task Force. DOE’s overarching mission is to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States; to promote scientific and technological innovation in support of that mission; and to ensure the environmental cleanup of the national nuclear weapons complex.
DOE’s Federal Smart Grid Task Force members come from the following organizations.
Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability
The Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) is dedicated to leading national efforts to transform the electric grid, enhance the security and reliability of the electricity infrastructure, and facilitate recovery from disruptions to the country’s energy supply. Its Federal Smart Grid Task Force members are:
- Eric Lightner, task force director
- Hank Kenchington, deputy assistant secretary for R&D
- Larry Mansueti, Permitting, Siting, and Analysis Program
- Philip Overholt, Transmission Reliability Program
