Company Overview
CenterPoint Energy, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, was selected to receive $200M in funding to improve the current smart meter project and begin building a smart grid. The project has plans to complete the installation of 2.2 million smart meters and further strengthen the reliability and self-healing properties of the grid by installing more than 550 sensors and automated switches that will help protect against system disturbances like natural disasters.
